Q: What is the background of this app?
A: One of the first steps when designing a bulk handling conveyor system is to determine the right belt size and speed with a given design capacity of the system. The capacity of a conveyor system is a function of material cross section on the belt, bulk density, and conveyor speed. Several standards describe the calculation of the cross section. I like the CEMA approach, but for comparison the older DIN approach is also included.
Q: What limitations does this app have?
A: This app does not make recommendations. It provides the math, but the user will have to fill in the blanks, and assess if the selected belt/speed combination is suitable/recommended for the specific application. Some software packages include belt thickness and corner radius for the most perfect result. In most cases, this (perceived) accuracy is irrelevant (and not considered in this app)
Q: Is there a database included, e.g. for material properties or standard idler dimensions?
A: Not at this time. This may be added later.
Q: Is there a free trial version available?
A: Not at this time. This may be added later.
Q: I have a specific question either related to the app or to conveyor design in general. Can I send you an email?
A: Absolutely.
